OpenAI's New Revenue Head: Alliance with Amazon to Drive Enterprise Growth, Microsoft Partnership Has Limits
OpenAI's new revenue head Denise Dresser issued an internal memo stating that the alliance with Amazon will be a key driver for enterprise business growth, while pointing out limitations in the long-term partnership with Microsoft.
Two months ago, Amazon planned to invest $50 billion in OpenAI and establish a strategic partnership. Its AWS will provide enterprises with access to AI models from OpenAI and other vendors via the Bedrock platform. Microsoft has invested over $13 billion in OpenAI since 2019, but the partnership limits the ability to meet enterprise customers' needs.
OpenAI is actively competing for the enterprise market, with rivals Anthropic's Claude model and Google's Gemini model also in the race. In the latest funding round, OpenAI's valuation exceeded $850 billion, while Anthropic's valuation in March was around $380 billion.
