OpenClaw Founder Steinberger Accuses Tencent's SkillHub of Data Plagiarism; Tencent Responds to Dispute
Tencent Cloud recently launched SkillHub, a platform designed for Chinese users with over 13,000 lobster-related skills. Its official website states data comes from ClawHub. Peter Steinberger, founder of OpenClaw (known as the 'Lobster Father'), publicly accused Tencent of scraping his platform's data without prior communication, causing five-figure USD server costs. He also received a complaint email about rate limits hindering scraping efficiency, criticizing plagiarism without supporting the project.
Tencent AI's official account responded that SkillHub is a localized platform built on the OpenClaw ecosystem to enhance availability and speed for Chinese users. It transparently cites the source, handling 180GB of user traffic (870,000 downloads) in the first week while only pulling 1GB from official sources. Team members actively contribute code and aim to support the ecosystem.
