Seoul bans AI glasses in school exams
Seoul's education office has banned AI smart glasses in final exams for all primary and secondary schools. The glasses have cameras, microphones, and AI that could help students cheat. Schools must tell students and parents that bringing them in will lead to cheating penalties.
The notice explains how to spot AI glasses: they have thicker temples with batteries, hidden cameras near the lenses, and features like LED lights or buttons. Teachers should watch students who keep touching their glasses.
Earlier this year, two students in South Korea were caught cheating on the TOEIC English test using AI glasses. Their scores were canceled and they cannot take the test for four years. South Korea's education ministry is now considering banning AI smart glasses in the CSAT college entrance exam this November.
