South Korea sets up team to fight AI deepfake crimes
South Korea's government recently set up a multi-agency team to tackle rising AI-related crimes, including deepfake sexual exploitation, financial scams, and fake ads. The team includes ministries of science, foreign affairs, justice, and the police.
The Korea Communications Commission noted that AI crimes now span across networks, telecoms, and finance, making it hard for any single agency to handle alone. This collaboration aims to create a unified framework to better prevent and fight crimes using deepfakes and AI voice scams.
