Tencent Is Secretly Developing an AI Agent for WeChat, Which Can Connect Mini-Programs to Handle Tasks Like Ride-Hailing and Food Delivery
Tencent is secretly developing a 'top-secret' AI agent project for WeChat. This plan is highly confidential within the company and has been in the works since at least the first half of last year. It is scheduled to start gray-box testing in the middle of the year and roll out to all users in the third quarter, though the launch time may be adjusted if the function is not mature.
Once launched, the AI agent will connect to millions of mini-programs on the WeChat platform, covering services like ride-hailing and food delivery, replacing the need for 1.4 billion monthly active users to complete these tasks manually. Additionally, Tencent is testing QClaw internally—a local AI assistant based on OpenClaw, supporting Windows/Mac installation with over 5000 skills, which can remotely control computers via WeChat conversations to execute commands.
OpenClaw is an open-source AI agent framework that allows AI to directly operate computers, upgrading from 'answering questions' to 'doing tasks'. It uses natural language commands to control the system, browsers, and files, forming a closed task loop.
