Tesla's Optimus 3 Humanoid Robot to Start Production This Summer, Mass Production Expected in 2027
Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed in an interview at the 'Abundance Summit' that the Optimus 3 (Optimus Generation 3) humanoid robot is expected to start production this summer. Currently, the robot is in the final stage of R&D, and Musk claims it is the world's most advanced humanoid robot with no comparable products.
Optimus 3 will have low initial output, following the typical S-curve growth in manufacturing, with mass production expected in 2027. Tesla also plans to iterate quickly: Optimus 4's design will be completed next year, aiming to launch a new robot design annually.
In terms of production layout, Optimus 3 will first be produced at the Fremont factory, which plans to build a production line with an annual capacity of 1 million units. Later, the Texas Gigafactory will establish a production line with an annual capacity of 10 million units to achieve larger-scale capacity expansion.
