UK AI Minister Kendall: No AI at Work, But Relies on It for Skincare Issues in Private Life
UK Science, Innovation and Technology Minister Liz Kendall recently stated that she does not use artificial intelligence at work but relies on it for personal issues, such as using AI to analyze skincare ingredients to deal with allergies. A few days ago, she announced a £500 million fund to support UK AI enterprises.
Attitudes towards AI use within the government are inconsistent: Kendall's predecessor launched the AI tool Humphrey and emphasized AI replacing manual work for efficient tasks, while Kendall prefers personal use. However, the government has been promoting AI applications, such as employment centers using AI to help job seekers modify resumes and organize public consultation feedback.
Kendall denied that UK laws are written by AI, saying attention needs to be paid to AI's impact on employment. She plans to provide free AI skill training for 10 million workers to help them cope with job transitions.
