Unreleased Anthropic AI Model Helps Prove 17-Year-Old Quantum Computing Conjecture
The Aaronson-Ambainis conjecture, an unsolved problem in quantum computing since 2008, studies when quantum computers can run far faster than regular ones.
Physical Superintelligence (PSI) announced it proved the conjecture in just three days, using a research system built on an unreleased Anthropic AI model. The system was developed by PSI researcher David Turturicean, and the exact model is still unknown.
The proof shows quantum computers only gain huge speed advantages when a problem has special patterns or structure. Earlier, OpenAI also announced solving the 90-year-old Navier-Stokes problem. AI is increasingly breaking new ground in math research.
