US Employees' AI Usage Hits 50% New High, But Gap Exists Between Enterprise Deployment and Employee Adoption
A recent Gallup report shows that about half of U.S. employees use AI at work at least a few times a year, up from 46% in the previous quarter, hitting a new high since statistics began. Among them, the proportion of daily AI users rose to 13%, and those using it several times a week reached 28%. The report is based on a survey of 23,700 U.S. employees.
The report points out an 'integration-adoption lag' between enterprise deployment and employee use: 41% of employees say their employers have introduced AI tools to improve efficiency, but only 28% use AI at least once a week. Additionally, 41% of employees say their companies use AI to improve operations, but only 26% believe the company has a clear roadmap, and nearly a quarter of employees don't even know if their company has deployed AI.
Currently, AI mostly boosts the efficiency of existing processes rather than fundamentally reshaping work methods. However, employees waste an average of 7.9 hours per week managing AI tools, such as transferring data or adjusting prompts, which affects actual work efficiency.
