US EV Maker Lucid Unveils Midsize Platform, Launches Three SUVs and Robotaxi Concept
US-based emerging EV maker Lucid announced its new 'Midsize' platform at an investor day event. This platform will support the development of three SUV models and a Robotaxi concept.
The platform's core is the Atlas electric drive unit, featuring a smaller, lighter design to boost production scale and reduce costs. It also achieves target range with smaller battery packs, higher component integration, and simplified exterior styling.
Lucid plans to launch SUVs like Cosmos (focused on efficiency, space, and performance) and Earth (adventure-oriented), with the third model to be revealed later—starting price below $50,000. Additionally, the Robotaxi concept Lucid Lunar uses a two-seat, steering-wheel-free design, and Lucid will partner with Uber to integrate this autonomous taxi into Uber's ride-hailing platform.
