Vipshop launches its own AI shopping assistant AI Xiaowei

Chinese e-commerce platform Vipshop has launched its own AI assistant called AI Xiaowei. Built by the company's large model team, it supports both text and voice chat, helping users find products, check promotions, and ask about discounts.

To improve the assistant, Vipshop is hiring top AI talent with monthly pay between 50K and 80K yuan, or 600K to 960K yuan a year. These roles focus on building datasets for intent recognition, product understanding, and recommendations, while constantly refining the model.

On the product side, an AI product comparison tool is rolling out gradually. Users can select items in their cart to compare, or ask AI Xiaowei to compare products. The tool highlights each item's strengths and key specs for easy side-by-side shopping.

Vipshop's net revenue fell 4.3% year over year to 24.7 billion yuan in Q2 2026. CEO Shen Ya said AI is becoming a key engine driving growth and efficiency.
