Wayve, Uber and Nissan Partner to Launch Robotaxi Service in Tokyo by End of 2026

Wayve, Uber and Nissan recently signed a memorandum of understanding for robotaxi cooperation, aiming to launch operations in Tokyo, Japan by the end of 2026, though the plan still needs government approval.

The service will use Nissan LEAF electric vehicles equipped with Wayve's AI Driver autonomous system, and be offered via the Uber platform. In the initial phase, these robotaxis will have safety operators on board to ensure operational safety.
