xAI Sees Talent Inflow and Outflow: Two Senior Cursor Leaders Join, Co-founders Depart
Recently, xAI welcomed two senior leaders from Cursor: Andrew Milich (Product and Engineering Head) and Jason Ginsberg (Engineering Head). Both were responsible for Agent-related work at Cursor and now report directly to Elon Musk. Milich is a long-time fan of Musk and once interned at SpaceX; Ginsberg is interested in software industry changes and agrees with Musk's view that traditional OS and apps will disappear.
Meanwhile, xAI is facing talent loss: several co-founders (like Zihang Dai and Guodong Zhang) have left, leaving only two co-founders besides Musk. Some say Musk's intense management style leads to employee exhaustion.
For Cursor, market share has declined due to competition from Anthropic and ChatGPT. In contrast, xAI has strong backing from SpaceX and sufficient resources, which may be key reasons for the two's move.
