Xiaomi's WorldCast turns photos into 3D camera videos
Xiaomi's REDMI K100 was officially launched on October 27. The phone's camera now has a new AI feature: pick a still photo from your album, and AI creates a 3D camera-move video. The lens can circle, zoom, and tilt, while the person's face, hair, and clothes stay the same. The feature runs on WorldCast, a visual generation framework from Xiaomi's recent paper. It reads the depth structure of a photo, rebuilds it as a 3D scene, and maps out a camera path, so the shot moves like it was really filmed. During the camera move, WorldCast keeps the main subject looking consistent. Xiaomi calls it another step forward in controllable visual generation, with methods, datasets, and evaluation tools already in place. Building on this, the team will explore more complex camera moves, longer clips, and controllable 4D video generation.
