YouTube Music adds AI labels to show how songs are made
YouTube Music has launched an AI music labeling feature to show how generative AI is used in songs. The feature will later roll out to the main YouTube app. When a song is identified as "primarily created with generative AI," a clear oval "AI" label appears below the song title. Tapping it shows details on how AI was used. The labeling system combines creator self-reporting with the platform's own AI detection tools. Creators choose from three categories: fully made with generative AI, partly made with generative AI, or no generative AI. Tools like Auto-Tune for pitch correction don't count as AI use. If uploaders don't report it themselves, YouTube's internal system will automatically detect and label songs using various technical signals. The goal is to make AI use in music more transparent for listeners.
