The 2026 China Science Fiction Conference was held at Shougang Park in Shijingshan, Beijing from March 27 to 29 as a parallel forum of the Zhongguancun Forum Annual Meeting, focusing on AI's impact on the sci-fi industry.
Sci-fi writer Liu Cixin stated that AI cannot replace human writing yet, as creation needs to extend from reality; Wang Jinkang pointed out AI will bring revolutionary changes but specific impacts are unpredictable; Li Yiqian emphasized empathy as the core of human creation, a powerful weapon against AI.
Liu Cixin previously mentioned DeepSeek will not replace sci-fi writers for now, but it is theoretically possible in the future, calling for calm acceptance of technical impacts.
