Anthropic Launches Claude Duet, an AI Agent That Works on Its Own

Anthropic has launched a new app called Claude Duet in research preview. It is an AI agent that can work on its own, joining the race for always-on AI assistants.

The app is built on Claude Opus 5.5 and comes as iOS, Android, and web versions. It is first open to Pro and Max subscribers in the US through a waitlist. It runs on its own virtual machine and browser, so it keeps working even when the device is off. It can schedule meetings, sort emails, track invoices, and make financial forecasts.

It can use more than 6,000 connectors for services like Gmail, Slack, and Shopify. It can make online payments with a virtual card after user approval, and it must get user approval before sending messages or making payments.

Anthropic admits this is still an early version. It may misread chats or judge urgency wrong, and it cannot show its browser actions yet.
