Abu Dhabi signs four AI deals with OpenAI
Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Khaled met with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman to discuss deeper cooperation in artificial intelligence. After the meeting, Abu Dhabi agencies signed four agreements with OpenAI, covering government, energy and investment.
In energy, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) became the first energy company to deploy OpenAI's cutting-edge technology. The deal runs on GPT models, with computing power from local infrastructure in the UAE to boost efficiency and productivity.
For government, Abu Dhabi launched the world's first "machine-readable government" initiative. It turns policies and rules into a format AI systems can read, helping officials handle license and permit checks, with a pilot focused on food imports. On investment, sovereign wealth fund Mubadala will use AI for analysis, finding opportunities and assessing risks. The two sides also signed a five-year deal to push AI use in government, business and education.
