AI Hits Job Market Hard, Texas College Grads Face Higher Unemployment

A new study shows that since ChatGPT launched, hiring in AI-affected industries in Texas has dropped significantly, hitting college grads hardest. In early 2025, job postings in these fields fell by about 8% in one quarter, while other jobs stayed steady. Texas also leads the U.S. in data center construction, with power demand jumping from 48 gigawatts in 2023 to over 474 gigawatts now.
