AI trading now shakes markets more than oil, and Korean stocks feel it hard

AI trading has become a big force in financial markets. Goldman Sachs found that chip stocks now explain about 54% of how different assets perform, while oil explains only 2%. That means AI chips matter more than oil these days. Recently, Anthropic filed for an IPO, which lifted AI stocks. The Nasdaq and S&P 500 both rose about 1%, and the Philadelphia chip index gained about 3%. The rally then spread to Asia. South Korea's KOSPI index jumped 5% at one point, Samsung rose 6%, and SK Hynix climbed 8%. Korea's market is very sensitive to AI trading. Memory chip stocks make up about half of the KOSPI index. The index has fallen about 40% from its June high, after doubling earlier this year. Goldman notes investor sentiment has not yet hit levels where buying opportunities usually appear.
