Alert: 10-second free AI-generated fake videos are rumor hotbeds—labeling as AI-generated doesn’t exempt you from liability
A 10-second video claiming 'Chongqing Nan'an overpass collapsed' got over 5700 likes and 1100 shares within 12 hours of being posted. It was verified as AI-generated. Even though the publisher labeled it 'AI-generated content', they were still detained by police for 6 days. Labeling as AI-generated is only a compliance requirement, not an exemption from liability for spreading rumors.
A reporter's investigation found that common AI video generation software used by netizens can freely create accident-related videos, usually 5-10 seconds long. These videos easily grab attention and have become a hotbed of online rumors. The public should be alert to such fake content and avoid spreading it.
