Amp Launches Spaces Where One Main Agent Handles Task Planning for Teams

AI coding tool Amp has launched Spaces, a new way for AI agents and teams to work together. Users no longer need to create or manage many agent threads by hand. They just talk to one main agent, which understands the goal, breaks down tasks, and sets up other threads on its own.

Each Space is a chat between users and a single agent. The agent turns goals into smaller tasks, runs them in parallel threads, and shows progress as live cards in the chat. Team members can share needs or feedback in the same chat, and the agent only reads comments when someone mentions @amp to cut down on noise.

The company showed examples like finishing a feature release and running regular security checks in one Space. This reflects a shift in AI coding tools from simple one-on-one chats to team-based task planning, where developers focus more on setting goals, reviewing results, and making key decisions.
