Cursor Adds Voice Chat So You Can Talk to Your AI Coding Agent
AI coding tool Cursor has launched a "Voice Chat with Agents" feature. Developers can now talk directly with their coding agents by voice, describe code changes, ask about task progress, while the agent keeps coding in the background. The feature works on Agents Window, IDE, web, and iOS. iPhone users can even start a call by saying "Hey Siri, call Cursor", then mute or hang up from the lock screen or Dynamic Island.
Unlike dictation, which only turns speech into text, this is a real two-way voice conversation. The voice agent listens, responds, and takes on tasks, then hands the coding work to the coding agent, which reports short progress updates along the way. Grok Voice powers the speech recognition and synthesis, with five voice options that can be switched during calls.
Users can also check code differences, running status, or search past messages during a call. These are read-only actions, so coding tasks won't be interrupted. With Privacy Mode on, no voice data is stored. Calls have a daily limit, and they end automatically after about 10 minutes of silence.
