Investors say Anthropic's $1.5 trillion IPO valuation is still too high
AI company Anthropic is aiming for the biggest IPO in history. It first wanted a valuation of up to $2 trillion and planned to go public in November.
Reuters reports that some institutional investors think even $1.5 trillion is too high. Three big investors want a lower price, and one of them thinks the value could be closer to $1 trillion - half of what the company first asked for.
Investors are being careful because tech stocks have been selling off hard. Anthropic also posted quarterly losses and promised huge spending on AI infrastructure, so buyers want a bigger discount. Some are still waiting for October revenue data to see if growth picks up again.
Tech media The Information says Anthropic will keep its IPO roadshow next week and still plans to list in the week of November 16, just before Thanksgiving.
