Anthropic Files for Nasdaq IPO, Reveals $16.3 Billion Revenue and $80.7 Billion Loss
AI company Anthropic has filed its S-1 registration with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, moving closer to a Nasdaq listing. It secretly submitted its IPO application in June, and the public filing reveals more details.
The filing shows Anthropic earned $16.3 billion in revenue in the first half of the year, with a net loss of $80.7 billion. Most of the loss came from accounting fees tied to its financing notes.
To secure AI computing power, Anthropic signed multi-billion dollar deals. Once all planned compute is delivered, it will pay SpaceX about $3.1 billion a month for NVIDIA GPUs, with total spending up to $120.5 billion through 2029.
The filing says AI could speed up science, boost economic growth, and help cure major diseases. But AI accidents could cause "catastrophic" damage, so severe that even the insurance industry may not be able to cover the risk.
