SpaceX Signs $40 Billion GPU Lease Deal with Apollo
SpaceX has announced a financing deal with alternative asset manager Apollo. The two sides will sign a master lease agreement worth about $40 billion for GPUs and related equipment, with signing expected in 2026. It is the largest GPU financing deal so far. The lease will fund NVIDIA's next-gen Vera Rubin chips for SpaceX's ground computing infrastructure, and it will start in the first half of 2027 after the equipment is delivered. SpaceX CFO Bret Johnsen said demand for computing power keeps growing fast, and payback periods for such infrastructure are now under a year. Leasing also diversifies funding sources and covers a big part of the money needed for growth plans. The new compute will power Grok services for businesses and consumers, and support current and future cloud customers.
