Panasonic: Data of 334,000 employees uploaded to external AI tool
Panasonic's operations unit has apologized after sensitive HR data was uploaded to an outside generative AI service. The company runs this system together with its subsidiary.
One employee broke internal rules by uploading data on current and former staff, plus their family members. The data included employee IDs, addresses, phone numbers, emails and emergency contact details.
The incident affected about 334,000 people in Panasonic's shared HR system. That includes 75,000 current employees, 178,000 former employees and 81,000 family members.
The AI service provider said the data was not used for training and has been deleted. No leak has been found so far.
