Anthropic's New Claude Model Mistakenly Says It's from Alibaba or DeepSeek in API Tests
Anthropic just launched its latest flagship AI model, Claude Opus 4.8, and announced a $65 billion funding round, pushing its value to nearly $1 trillion. The model improves coding and reasoning, and adds a new thinking control feature.
But soon after launch, users found that in API tests, the model sometimes says it's Alibaba's Qwen or DeepSeek when asked who it is. This only happens via API, not on the website. Anthropic has previously accused Chinese companies of stealing its tech, but was itself ordered to pay $1.5 billion for using pirated books to train models.
