Apple exec: AI won't replace apps, it will make them better

At the World Internet Conference Wuzhen Summit AI forum, Apple VP Isabel Ge Mahe said AI is changing how apps are built. But AI won't replace apps. Instead, it will make the next generation of apps more powerful and more personal.

She also shared some numbers. Last year, developers in China made 562 billion dollars through the App Store, up 23 billion dollars from the year before. Three out of four Chinese developers now sell overseas, and overseas sales make up more than half of their revenue.

On talent, Ge said asking the right questions matters more now that AI makes answers easy to find, and creativity is key. The same day, Apple rolled out the iOS 27.3 developer preview, so users in mainland China can find Apple Intelligence and Siri in Settings after updating.
