Beijing Traffic Police Robots Debut at Marathon; Humanoid Robot 'Lightning' Wins with Record Beating Human Time
Beijing Traffic Police Robots made their official debut at the Beijing Yizhuang Half Marathon recently, guiding runners on the track. Currently, these robots can perform traffic gesture commands, safety publicity, and travel guidance. They will later be piloted for intersection duty, with plans to expand to professional knowledge Q&A, traffic violation identification, and other scenarios to support urban traffic management.
At the 2026 Beijing Yizhuang Humanoid Robot Half Marathon (the world's first dedicated humanoid robot marathon brand event), the 'Lightning' robot from the Qitian Dasheng team won the championship with a net time of 50 minutes and 26 seconds—beating the human half-marathon world record of 56 minutes and 42 seconds.
