ByteDance Responds to Doubao Phone Rumors: No Plans for Own Phone, Focus on Open AI Capabilities

Recently, rumors claimed ByteDance was developing a 'Doubao Phone'. ByteDance officials clarified the news is false—Doubao has no plans to launch its own phone product currently. Doubao focuses on opening AI capabilities to various hardware manufacturers including phone makers, collaborating on complete solutions but not involving self-developed phones.

Doubao large model had over 160 million cumulative users in 2024, with 800,000 daily new downloads in November and nearly 9 million daily active users. Technically, SeedEdit 3.0 launched on Volcano Ark in July 2025, and Xiaomi Browser integrated Doubao model and Volcano Ark high-code agent products in August to enhance AI search efficiency and service richness.
