ChatGPT search queries now hit 20% of Google's

OpenAI's push into search is starting to pay off. Adam Fry, who leads ChatGPT's consumer product, confirmed that search queries on ChatGPT are about 20% of Google Search's total.

A Pew Research survey shows searching for information is the most common AI use among American adults. 42% have used AI to look things up, and 38% of working adults have used AI for work tasks. Uses like entertainment, news, and health advice are less common.

ChatGPT is the most popular AI chatbot. 44% of American adults have used it, while second-place Gemini is at only 24%.

Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai said earlier this isn't a zero-sum game. He compared it to TikTok's rise, saying YouTube kept growing strong during that time.
