China Leads the First International Standard on Humanoid Robot Datasets, Achieving Two Historic Breakthroughs
China has successfully initiated the world's first international standard on humanoid robot datasets in the field of embodied intelligence at the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and promoted the establishment of the first working group led by Chinese experts. This marks a key step for China in formulating international standards for humanoid robots.
Currently, major economies like the US, Japan, and the EU have included humanoid robots in their national tech strategies. In the past, China was often in a passive position in international robot standard-setting, but this time it achieved two zero breakthroughs: leading the first international standard for humanoid robots and heading the first international standard working group for robots.
By the end of 2025, there were over 300 global humanoid robot complete machine enterprises with 17,000 units shipped; China had 140 enterprises, shipping 14,400 units, accounting for 84.7% of the global total, making it the world's largest market.
This international standard references China's ongoing national standards for humanoid robot datasets, and global experts will jointly participate in the development of subsequent standards.
