China's NHSA Sets Invasive BCI Implantation Fee at 6000-6600 Yuan per Session
China's National Healthcare Security Administration recently released guidelines, having issued 39 batches of medical service price project guidelines and added about 180 forward-looking price items for new technologies and products, including brain-computer interface (BCI) related items.
Most provinces have set guided prices for BCI projects: invasive BCI implantation fee ranges from 6000 to 6600 yuan per session, and non-invasive adaptation fee is around 960 yuan. In March 2026, China approved the world's first invasive BCI for clinical use, designed for patients with spinal cord injury-induced quadriplegia to assist in hand grasping functions.
