Doubao denies Hengdian extras' data was used to train ByteDance AI models
Doubao's PR head Liu Xing said rumors claiming Hengdian fed the portraits and voices of 150,000 extras to ByteDance's AI models are far from the truth.
He explained that the Hengdian Film AI service platform aims to build public digital infrastructure. It will turn assets like real film set locations into high-quality datasets, helping film crews pick locations and prepare for shoots faster, while making AI easier for smaller film companies to use.
The statement says Volcano Engine is the tech supporter. All data assets belong to Hengdian or authorized parties. Any use of someone's portrait or voice needs their permission, and the data will not be used to train ByteDance's AI models.
Earlier, at the Hengdian Film Culture Industry Development Conference, the Dongyang government teamed up with Volcano Engine to launch the "Hengdian π" AI platform. It covers the whole film process, from ideas and shooting to production and release.
