Faraday Technology lands record US cloud AI chip project on Samsung 2nm process

Chip IP and design services firm Faraday Technology announced in its 2026Q3 earnings report that it has won a major new project from a US customer, setting company records in design process, complexity, NRE spending, and advanced packaging.

The project is a cloud-oriented AI chip that supports FP64 computing, covering high-performance computing tasks. Built on Samsung Foundry's advanced 2nm process, it vertically stacks a logic SoC with custom DRAM using hybrid bonding technology and supports PCIe Gen6. The customer originally planned a 4nm process but chose 2nm for better performance and power efficiency.

Financially, Faraday posted 2026Q3 revenue of NT$3.66 billion, about 750 million yuan, up 13% year-over-year and 11% quarter-over-quarter, with a 42.5% gross margin and a 5.8% operating margin.
