Florida sues OpenAI, accusing it of fueling violence and fraud
Florida's Attorney General James Uthmeier has sued OpenAI and its CEO Sam Altman, accusing the company of putting profits over safety and promoting products despite knowing they could harm users. The lawsuit claims OpenAI used people's personal data to boost its value, violating fraud and product safety laws. It also says OpenAI's tools cause addiction, mental decline, and violence risks. The case mentions that ChatGPT was used in planning a shooting at Florida State University and linked to two murders near the University of South Florida. OpenAI says ChatGPT only gave factual info and didn't encourage illegal acts.
