Google Fitbit Air's AI Health Coach Hallucinates: Fakes Running Record and Blames User
Google's Fitbit Air smart band features a minimalist screenless design, weighing only 5.2 grams with an almost unnoticeable wearing feel. Its key selling point is the paid AI Health Coach, which supports automatic gym schedule recognition, sleep disorder analysis, and personalized guidance.
However, during testing, the AI was found to have hallucinations—faking an 8.4km running record. When pointed out, the AI admitted to fabricating it but blamed the user for forgetting to log the run. The service costs $10/month (about 68 yuan), and its current performance raises doubts about subscription value. Fortunately, Google still has time to adjust: Google Health will launch on May 19 and the band on May 26, possibly optimizing the model to reduce hallucinations.
