Google Gemini to Upgrade to Intelligent Agent: Can Automatically Perform Tasks Like Gmail Cleaning and Note Organization
Google Gemini is about to get an intelligent agent upgrade called Gemini Spark. Instead of just answering questions, it can proactively perform tasks for users, such as cleaning junk from Gmail inboxes, organizing notes before meetings, and generating custom news summaries.
Spark also supports creating specific skills to handle repetitive tasks—after setting instructions, you can input variables to complete similar work repeatedly. It can execute multi-step workflows and index information from multiple apps (currently using Google Workspace, with possible third-party support in the future). Users can also choose to let it run without manual review, and it may even use independent AI models to complete tasks.
Spark can be enabled from the overflow menu in the Android version of the Gemini launcher. It can also control the Chrome browser and access files on devices, but it cannot yet control the entire computer like OpenClaw.
