Google Genie3 Improves: AI-Generated Game Worlds Can Stay Stable for One Minute, But Still Far From Practical
Many gamers hope AI can quickly generate interactive game worlds, but the technology still has obvious limitations. Google recently updated the Genie3 platform, and the stability of its generated 3D worlds has improved—it can now usually stay consistent for about a minute, though scenes will gradually become chaotic afterward.
Project Genie aims to let AI instantly generate explorable virtual worlds from text descriptions. As the core engine, Genie3 can create realistic environments and support real-time interaction. However, Google admits the model is still far from truly impacting the game industry and is not ready for game development yet.
A Google DeepMind researcher said Project Genie is not meant to replace the game industry. They hope to open the technology to developers in the future to encourage experiments, but current technology still needs progress.
