Half of Americans worry AI will cost jobs, poll says
A new Reuters/Ipsos poll shows AI is fueling job anxiety in the US. 53% of adults worry AI could cost them or their family members jobs, and this concern is spread evenly across age, gender, and education groups.
The survey covered 4,531 US adults and has a margin of error of 2 points. By political affiliation, 61% of Democrats worry about AI affecting jobs, compared to 47% of Republicans. 73% of respondents are uneasy about growing AI use, up from 68% in 2023.
40% of adults said they use AI regularly—50% among college graduates and 34% among those without a degree. Despite layoffs in tech, overall US job growth remains strong.
