Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang: China Has Computing Power for Training Mythos-Level Models; Export Restrictions Will Accelerate Huawei's Rise
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang strongly opposed AI chip export control policies in an interview, stating these measures not only fail to block China's AI capabilities but have already had counterproductive effects. He noted China has abundant 7nm chip capacity and cheap energy, and AI training can use more older chips to compensate for single-chip gaps via parallel computing.
Huang said China has long crossed the threshold for training Anthropic's Mythos-level models. Huawei's chip shipments reached millions, far exceeding Anthropic's holdings. Though Huawei's 2025 revenue was its second-highest ever, its chip business grew significantly.
He warned controls accelerate China's local chip industry rise. DeepSeek is preparing to release its V4 model on Huawei's Ascend chips, and major Chinese firms are buying Huawei chips in bulk. Abandoning the Chinese market will harm U.S. chips' long-term competitiveness.
