Only 4 Uber Rides Booked via AI Agents in Its Busiest Week
AI agents are getting lots of hype, but Uber's numbers show people are barely using them yet.
On the Q3 earnings call, Uber said only 4 rides were booked through AI agents during Halloween week, its busiest week in October. Out of about 320 million total rides and orders that week across Uber and Uber Eats, just 500 food orders came from AI agents.
CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said it's still very early. Booking a ride in the app takes only about 50 seconds, so AI agents don't always save time. DoorDash also reported only a few hundred AI agent orders.
Still, he believes AI agents will bring new demand, and about 8 major AI assistants are already talking with Uber. Startup Instinct is now valued at $10 billion, and Meta's Muse has topped 10 million users.
