OpenAI Codex adds 6 new job-specific plugins, covering 62 apps and 110 skills
OpenAI says its AI assistant Codex is getting a big update with 6 new job-specific plugins, covering 62 apps and 110 skills. Codex started as a tool for software developers, but now has over 5 million weekly active users, with about 20% being non-developers like analysts, marketers, and designers. These non-developers are growing 3 times faster than developers.
The new plugins are for data analysis, creative production, sales, product design, stock investing, and investment banking. The data analysis plugin connects to tools like Snowflake and Tableau to help teams check business data and make reports. The creative production plugin helps marketing teams turn briefs into ad versions and campaign visuals.
Codex is also previewing a feature for business and enterprise users to create interactive websites and apps. Teams can turn ideas into dashboards, project boards, and other lightweight tools, then share them via URL. The annotation feature now works on documents, spreadsheets, and slides, letting users select specific parts for Codex to edit.
