OpenAI Opens Cybersecurity Model GPT-5.5-Cyber to EU, Anthropic's Mythos Access Still Pending

OpenAI recently announced opening its latest cybersecurity model GPT-5.5-Cyber to the EU. Businesses, governments, cybersecurity agencies and the EU AI Office are eligible for access to address cybersecurity challenges.

A month ago, Anthropic launched the Claude Mythos cybersecurity model with fanfare, but has not yet provided access to the EU. The EU has held 4-5 consultations with Anthropic, with progress far behind OpenAI and not yet at the solution stage.

A European Commission spokesperson said they welcome OpenAI's transparency and willingness to open access, which will help track model deployment closely and handle cybersecurity issues effectively.
