OpenAI Plans a Big AI PR Push After US Midterm Elections

According to Axios, OpenAI is getting ready to launch a big PR campaign right after the US midterm elections end. Chris Lehane, OpenAI's Chief Global Affairs Officer, said these midterms will be a "trailer" for the 2028 presidential election, and AI will become a core issue in future elections.

OpenAI plans to talk more with the public about AI. The plans include setting limits on how fast AI develops, showing people how AI helps in daily life, pushing the US to take part in setting global standards, and rebranding data centers as "AI computing parks".

Lehane believes talks between AI companies and the public about data centers will be good and healthy. Data center construction has sparked growing controversy, and Amazon and Microsoft have said they will stop using NDAs when negotiating such projects with local governments.
