OpenAI plans to go public within a year, says Sam Altman
OpenAI CEO Sam Altman told employees in an internal email that the company expects to go public within the next year, though the timeline remains flexible. OpenAI has already filed confidentially with the SEC for an IPO. Altman said the speed of tech development could affect the timing, especially if AI systems start improving themselves. The company is also planning a huge data center project that needs Nvidia's support. A new AI model, codenamed 5.6, is on the way and said to be much better than GPT-5.5.
