OpenAI refreshes ChatGPT with hidden gesture and chat history sidebar
OpenAI has updated ChatGPT with new features for both mobile and web. On mobile, holding down the send arrow now brings up an intelligence level selector, letting users choose between Instant, Thinking, or Extended modes to control how much computing power the model uses for each prompt. On the web version, a new chat history sidebar appears when a conversation has five or more replies, making it easier to jump back to specific parts of a long chat. OpenAI also refreshed the GPT-5.5 Instant model, which is now the default for most prompts, aiming to make responses more natural and useful while cutting down on overly long or bullet-point-heavy answers.
