Perplexity CEO confirms 2028 IPO, joining AI rivals in public market race
The CEO of US-based AI company Perplexity, Aravind Srinivas, told CNBC that the company plans to go public in 2028. He said this timeline won't change no matter how rivals like Anthropic and OpenAI perform in their own IPOs.
Anthropic secretly filed for an IPO last week, with a recent valuation near $1 trillion. OpenAI also filed this Monday. Srinivas had earlier said Perplexity wouldn't go public before 2028, and his latest comments reaffirm that.
When asked about competitors' IPOs, Srinivas said poor performance could trigger a chain reaction. He noted SpaceX's IPO this month will be a key benchmark for Anthropic and OpenAI. He stressed these IPOs matter a lot for the whole AI industry and hopes they succeed.
