Volcano Engine's Daily Token Calls Exceed 100 Trillion, Becoming the Third Global Company to Reach This Scale

According to monitoring, ByteDance's Volcano Engine has exceeded 100 trillion daily cloud-based large model token calls, with a growth rate of over 60% in less than two months since the Spring Festival. Currently, only OpenAI, Google and ByteDance globally have reached this scale; most of the consumption comes from the Chinese market, while the overseas market is growing rapidly.

A Volcano Engine insider said the growth was achieved under constraints—its video generation model Seedance 2.0 API has not yet been officially launched overseas. In the past month, token consumption from individual users has increased by about 16 times, with Agent products like OpenClaw being the main driver. The team has raised its 2026 MaaS business revenue target to over 10 billion yuan.

The National Data Bureau revealed that China's daily token calls exceeded 140 trillion in March, growing more than 1000 times in two years—from 100 billion in early 2024 to 100 trillion at the end of 2025.
